The event at the dinner table in the book and the movie differ from each other because the movie didn’t include conversation about the dishes that June bought her mother. The book didn’t make their argument about how June disappoints her mother; it was more about the crabs during dinner and the dishes. The book had more conversation during the dinner than the movie did, we think this is because in the movie they have to have conversation to take up the amount of narration that the book contains.

Today I took a hour and a half long nap after my biology lab. An hour and a half is around the normal amount of time that I nap for on any given day, but today I was so tired that my roommate both came back from one class and left for another. I woke up briefly after about 45 minutes and notice that my roommate was back in the dorm, which initially freaked me out because I thought it meant I was asleep for a long time. After I realized it had only been 45 minutes I chose to go back to sleep and when I actually got up after about another 45 minutes, my roommate was gone again.

Today I had my one-year follow-up with my orthopedic surgeon after my hip surgery last October. After class, I went to Dix, got my car, filled up, and then started driving towards my appointment. To start, the appointment was at University Hospitals Ahuja, which is 45 minutes away, and I was driving through construction and dealing with the 2:30 traffic rush.

I got to my appointment, waited 5 minutes, had an X-ray (which took maybe 3 minutes), then went to a room and talked to the nurse. After some simple questions, she left.

Next, a student doctor comes in and asks me routine questions about my pain and activity. After I gave her all positive answers, she got the main doctor who I came to see; all she did was simply verify my answers. After that, they tell me I’m free to leave.

In total, I was at the hospital for maybe 30 minutes, which isn’t bad, but the total hour and a half of driving, which was longer than my appointment, was quite annoying.

I recently retook the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) and got my score back. This was my second time taking the test, and although my score wasn’t as high as I’d hoped, it was still good enough for me to apply to law schools for Fall 2026 and higher than my last score.

To celebrate, I am meeting my mom, stepdad, and grandparents for dinner somewhere. I haven’t seen my grandparents in a few months, so I am excited.

I really liked this chapter from the Joy Luck Club. I think the story that Rose told about Old Mr. Chou from when she was younger, and the ideas from those dreams were shown in her real life. I also like how at the end of the chapter she says that Old Mr. Chou smiles and waves at her which is a very different response than what we are told he used to do, which was try to squish her like a bug.

I adopted this kitten that I named Poppy two weeks before I moved up here for college. So right now she lives with my parents. My dad constantly sends me pictures of her throughout the day because he works from home so he gets to spend a lot of time with her. I miss her and every time I go back home she has grown since the last time. I am very excited to see her this weekend when I go home.

I have spent so much time today working on a lab report for my biology lab and I really don’t want to do it anymore. I have had to make six tables and six graphs using the data we collected in the experiment. I am not even done with the actual report yet because we had to find and cite four sources for the background information on why the class did this experiment. Which means I had to do another literature search after already doing one earlier in the experiment but because we didn’t test what those sources were about. And there were no sources for the actual experiment that we did so I had to find random sources and tie them back to our experiment.

I ultimately decided this week that instead of being prepared like everyone else, I am going to buy my costume at the last minute. I really just struggled to decide what I wanted to be, so I am making the last-minute trip to Spirit Halloween this week (most likely on Halloween).

Surprisingly, the movie The Joy Luck Club was interesting to me. Each character carried their own unique life experiences, helping them all become very different people. The movie kept you entertained throughout and effectively built up each character and their background. Going into the film, I didn’t expect I would enjoy it, but it turned out to be very good.
